April 4th

April 4, 2006

Today was another 5am wake up call, thought it did not help that nearly all the girls awoke to cold showers. We took our group swimsuit photo from 7-7:30am. A scary thing happened when one of the girls fainted, but out of respect to her, I won’t name her. She was fine after having some orange juice, thankfully. We then headed to breakfast and afterward we were split up into four groups for separate outings. I went with 17 others girls to film some remotes for the telecast. We visited two museums between 9am and noon. Because we had a smaller group, we took the Super Shuttle to our destination, and the Baltimore Police continued to be our escorts. I don’t think it fazes us now to have them around.

When we returned from our outing I had lunch then went up to my hotel room to relax. I was able to sleep for two hours and woke feeling more rested than I do when attempting to sleep for only five hours! I got up and got ready for our cocktail event, the Welcome Dinner at Fleming’s Steakhouse. I joined KY, RI, AR, and ME for dinner and we immersed ourselves in intellectual conversation. :) Seriously, though, we had a wonderful time!

We got back to the hotel at about 10pm and went to the hospitality room (a room that MUO has set up for us where we can pick up any deliveries and food/drinks) and were greeted by several state souvenirs. It’s customary for each contestant to bring a little trinket from her state to be given to the other girls throughout our time in Baltimore. We also received Under Armor apparel to wear tomorrow night to an Orioles game! Lauren (NV) and I are really enjoying each other as roommates. We wear the same size top and both have size 6 feet so we’re enjoying “shopping” in each others’ suitcases!

We’ve got a really long day tomorrow. I’ll be with another small group that departs at 8am to go play lacrosse with the team from Johns Hopkins University! We’ll be back at the Wyndham around 4pm to pack for a two night trip to Ocean City, Maryland. From 6-9pm my group will be at an Orioles game then we take off for the 3 hour drive to Ocean City. I shoot my introduction for the telecast with a small group of states on the Ocean City beach between 7am and noon (bbbrrrr, it’s going to be cold). There’s a luau party in the evening and the next morning we’ll have a tour of the Cover Girl Factory!

Don’t forget to vote for Miss Photogenic when our official photos are posted on http://www.missusa.com/ in the next couple days. Rehearsals will start with the production crew on Saturday. You’ll hear from me soon!

Love,
Brenna
